Our Story

Shilajit Brothers began long before it became a company.

It started with a young man from Afghanistan who was forced to flee his home when the Taliban took control. After arriving in the Netherlands, he began rebuilding his life from the ground up; learning a new language, adapting to a new culture, and finding work to support himself.

One ordinary day at his workplace, he wasn’t feeling well. Out of habit, he brought a small jar of shilajit. Something he had grown up with in Afghanistan, where it’s used as a natural source of strength, resilience and recovery. Villagers, especially in the mountain regions, have relied on it for generations. It’s taken during the colder months, used for extra energy during long workdays, and valued as a simple, trusted remedy passed down within families.

When he used it at the office, his colleagues immediately became curious.

“What is that?”

After explaining its background and letting them try it, they were surprised by how much they liked it. Not just the product itself, but the tradition and story behind it. Their enthusiasm sparked an idea that felt both natural and meaningful:

If authentic Afghan shilajit could help people there, why not make it available to everyone?

From an idea to a mission

What followed was not a quick journey. We began with the traditional resin form of shilajit, as this is what most people in Afghanistan use. But we soon learned that the highest-quality form is actually fresher and more liquid, preserving more of the natural compounds that make shilajit so effective. That discovery shaped our entire approach.

But sourcing genuine shilajit, and doing it responsibly, became the real challenge.

We had to ensure that every step of the process happened outside Taliban involvement, not only for legal reasons, but because we wanted to guarantee full transparency and ethical trade. That meant building a supply chain from scratch. We travelled, researched, tested and invested considerable time into understanding each part of the journey:

  • how shilajit is collected safely in the mountains
  • how to purify it without losing its natural properties
  • how to ensure safe and legal export
  • how to meet European compliance and testing standards
  • how to maintain quality all the way from extraction to the final product

This resulted in long-term partnerships with local Afghan communities. Together we established a controlled, traceable production line where every stage is documented — from extraction in the high-altitude regions to refinement, filtration, transport, and finally laboratory testing in the Netherlands.

Because we manage each step ourselves, nothing is left to chance. No middlemen, no shortcuts, no diluted products.

Just authentic, carefully processed shilajit.

Why we do what we do

The shilajit market is crowded, but unfortunately not always honest. Many products are fake, contaminated, poorly processed, or simply not shilajit at all. Most consumers have no way of knowing the difference — and we believe that needs to change.

Our goal is not simply to sell shilajit.

Our mission is to raise the standard of what shilajit should be.

By offering a product that is purer, fresher and more transparent than almost anything available, we aim to eliminate fake and low-quality alternatives from the market. We want people to experience the real benefits of authentic shilajit — not the disappointment of something artificial.

To help achieve this, we also work with businesses and wellness brands, giving them the opportunity to build their own private label using our premium, fully traceable product. This allows more people to access true high-quality shilajit, while supporting Afghan communities that rely on this trade.
